Slant Six Swing Band

"Parties, Wakes, Weddings, Fancy Balls, Special Occasions"

Celebrating our SIXTH Anniversary!

(More like six years of celebrating.)

That's right, six years have come and gone since Heidi, Londog, John, Doug, Brett and Gary thought that this band would be a good idea. We're still at it, so we must be doing something right. In fact, under other names, and with other songs, some of us go back over 30 years together--Yikes!

Oh...but it hasn't slowed us down--we're just getting comfortable. We still play a finger poppin' mix of swing guaranteed to please. The repertoire includes Classic Swing music such as "Sing, Sing, Sing" and "Jump, Jive, and Wail" to Western Swing music like "Bump, Bounce Boogie" and "Only Make Believe". Season to taste with a waltz or two, some torch songs to cool things off, as well as some surprise favorites, and our band can bring just the right mix to your event.

Among our strengths is variety--both in song choices and instrumentation. An evening spent with the Slant Six Swing Band will treat the listener to vocal harmonies, saxophone, violin, trumpet, keyboards, guitar, pedal steel guitar, flute, harmonica and more. All supported by an outstanding rhythm section.

Press Release--The Slant Six Swing Band, New and Improved for 2006!

Coming soon to a showroom in your town: the new-and-improved-for-2006 Slant Six Swing Band! This tried-and-true vehicle for musical enjoyment, now in its sixth year of production, continues the traditions of yesteryear while incorporating the cutting-edge technology today's demanding dancers and listeners crave. New for 2006 are a host of 'user-friendly' features, including a broader powerband of songs from the 40s to the 90s, the punch and clarity of high-fidelity solid-state sound reinforcement, and a 'cruise-controlled' set list that will help your evening to pass pleasurably and effortlessly.

Moreover, this year's Slant Six retains the original innovations and luxury features that have made it a band of renown: the rich and supple vocal stylings of Ms. Heidi 'The Sapphire of Bombay' Walsh; the reliable handiwork of John 'Rocket 88s' Young on keyboards, saxophone, and harmonica; the artist's palette of tones and colors from 'Perfesser' Lonny Gustafson on 6-string and steel guitars, flute, saxophone, and trumpet; the deep, high-gloss polish of Doug 'It's Showtime!' Reid on violin; and the warm, throaty rumble and incredible low-end torque of the Swing-o-Matic rhythm section, including Gary 'El Profundo' Lotspeich on electric bass, and Brett 'The Human Metronome' Hoffman on drums and parole.

To sum it all up, The Slant Six Swing Band for 2006 will go the distance, smoothing out the bumps along life's highway with reliability, flexibility, and comfort. Take it for a test spin today!

The six of us offer a hardy "thank you" to those who turned out to hear us at:

Newport's "Gateway Center" on the waterfront. Now THAT was fun. What's not to like about Lobster, Mussels, music and dancing? We hope to see you again next year. Thanks for coming. We're excited to be doing this again on August 17th, 2007!

And...

Craftsbury's Sunday Music on the Common. Thanks to all who attended, and special commendation to the kind neighbor who allowed us to plug in our extension cord!

And...

Congratulations to the many brides, grooms and families on their recent weddings. The celebrations were outstanding. We really appreciate being included on your special day! Weddings are so much fun. Thanks to all the caterers for the fantastic feasts. Thanks to all the fantastic dancers, young and old, who egged us on into the wee hours.

And...

Thank you to the nice folks who manage the Webster Barn in Hyde Park, Vermont. What a lovely setting, and an excellent venue to play. We appreciate all the hard work that goes into making it look so easy.

And...

Special thanks to Sandra Hazen of the Maple Manor Bed and Breakfast, who has so often hosted these joyous events in her wonderful reception hall.

And...

Thank you to Soo and Stanti at the The Victorian Inn at Wallingford Vermont. Generous hosts, outstanding venue, attention to detail. Simply the best.

And...

What a great time we had playing for a recent wedding at The Round Barn Inn in the town of Waitsfield. It was hot, it was sunny, then it poured rain, the bride was delayed, the power went out. Thanks to the talented Lisabeth and her staff of "Cooking from the Heart" everything came out just fine. --And what a party!

And...

To the un-sung heroes behind the scenes at every wedding: The planners, the caterers, the tent rental companies, the porta-potty people, and especially the bartenders, thanks a million!
